What is Foot Reflexology?
Foot reflexology is a natural therapy that works on specific reflex points on the feet, each corresponding with different areas and systems of the body.
By applying precise pressure to these reflex points, reflexology works with the body as a whole, encouraging deep relaxation while supporting your body's natural ability to restore balance and wellbeing.
Rather than focusing on one symptom, reflexology supports your whole body, making it particularly helpful during times of stress, hormonal change and when life simply feels overwhelming.
How Foot Reflexology May Support You
Every woman is different, which is why every treatment is tailored to you. Foot reflexology may help support:
- Feeling calmer and less overwhelmed
- Sleeping more deeply and waking with more energy
- Navigating hormonal changes, including perimenopause and menopause
- Easing tension, aches and pains
- Headaches and migraines
- Supporting healthy digestion
- Helping your body rest, rebalance and function at its optimal level
Because reflexology works holistically, many women find they experience benefits in several areas, not just the one that brought them to treatment.

All treatments take place in my private treatment room in Helston, Cornwall.
From the moment you arrive, this is your time. A chance to step away from everything that's been demanding your attention, slow down for a while and allow your body the time and space it needs to rest and rebalance.
Before we begin, we'll spend a few minutes chatting about how you've been feeling and what you'd like to get from your treatment. Every session is tailored to you, so whether you're looking to ease stress, support hormonal changes or simply take some time for yourself, your treatment will reflect what you need on the day.
For many women, this is the part that surprises them most.
Often, within the first five to ten minutes, simply having your feet massaged and worked on begins to release the tension they've been carrying.
Your feet mirror the rest of your body, so as your feet begin to relax, the rest of you often follows. You may notice your breathing becoming slower and deeper, your shoulders softening and your mind becoming quieter. Some women drift into that lovely space between being awake and asleep, while others fall into a deep, restful sleep.
Reflexology isn't always completely relaxing from the very beginning though. Occasionally, you may notice that certain reflex points feel a little tender or sensitive. Sometimes there may be areas that feel a little gritty or where you notice a gentle popping sensation beneath my fingers.
These are simply areas that may need a little more attention.
If we've agreed to work a little deeper, some reflex points can feel more intense for a few moments, but I always work within your comfort level and will check in with you throughout the treatment.
I've had clients arrive with feet that were so sensitive they found it difficult to fully relax during their first treatment. Then, over the following weeks, as their symptoms began to improve, many noticed their feet became less tender too, allowing them to relax more deeply into each session.
Every treatment is different, but most women leave feeling calmer, lighter and as though they've finally had the chance to properly switch off.
Every woman who comes to see me is different, so every reflexology treatment is too.
Rather than following the same routine every time, I'll take the time to understand how you've been feeling, what's been going on in your life, and what you'd most like support with.
From there, I'll tailor your treatment to you, adapting the reflexology points and techniques I use to reflect your individual needs on the day.
Whether you're coming for stress, hormonal changes, poor sleep or simply because it's time to put yourself first, every treatment is designed around you and what you need on the day.
Foot reflexology is suitable for women of all ages and stages of life, but many of the women I see are navigating the changes that come with their hormones, menstrual cycle, perimenopause and beyond.
You might choose reflexology if you're:
- Feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed
- Struggling with poor sleep or low energy
- Looking for natural support for hormonal health or menstrual wellbeing
- Navigating perimenopause or menopause
- Living with headaches, migraines, aches or tension
- Simply wanting time to slow down and prioritise your own wellbeing
Foot reflexology is suitable for most people, but there are some situations where treatment may need to be postponed or adapted.
This includes:
- Fever or contagious illness
- Recent foot injuries, fractures or open wounds
- Certain acute infections
- Immediately after some medical procedures or surgery
- Certain high-risk pregnancies (medical clearance may be required)
- Some circulatory conditions, such as a suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
If you have a medical condition or are unsure whether reflexology is suitable for you, please get in touch before booking. I'm always happy to advise.
Every client completes a confidential consultation before treatment so we can ensure reflexology is safe and appropriate for you.
Foot reflexology is available as:
- 30 minutes - Perfect if you're new to reflexology, short on time or would like to focus on a particular concern.
- 60 minutes - My most popular treatment, allowing time to work across the whole body while tailoring the session to your individual needs.
- 90 minutes - Ideal if you're looking for a deeper, more restorative treatment, giving extra time to support relaxation, stress, women's health and ongoing symptoms.

If you feel you need a deeper level of support, Restore Within combines a personalised coaching session with a tailored reflexology or holistic therapy treatment, helping you better understand what's making everything feel harder while supporting both your body and your wellbeing.
If reflexology has become part of your wellbeing routine, courses of 6 or 12 treatments offer a reduced price per session, making it easier to enjoy regular treatments and continue supporting your health and wellbeing over time.
Foot reflexology combines beautifully with many of my other treatments, making it easy to create a session that's tailored to exactly what you need.
You can combine 30, 60 or even 90-minutes of foot reflexology with another treatment, depending on how much time you'd like and what you'd like to focus on.
A popular choice is combining foot reflexology with 30 or 60-minutes of facial reflexology, creating a wonderfully relaxing treatment that supports both your body and mind.
You can also combine it with one of my holistic facial therapies, facial cupping or Indian Head Massage for an even more personalised experience.

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING
★★★★★
I found Julia after a recommendation from a friend.. I was experiencing various menopausal symptoms due to age and also side effects from breast cancer treatment. Julia’s assessment was thorough and she quite rightly asked me to check with my breast care nurse that reflexology was OK - it was. There has been a definite decline in my hot flushes and painful legs but beyond that Julia is such a lovely person to talk to during the treatment. I would thoroughly recommend.

As a Reflexologist myself I am very choosy about whom I would have reflexology with but Julie is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She also has a gentle and calming presence which is very important for healing. Her treatments gave me the exact outcome I was hoping for.

Julia is amazing such a kind caring lovely lady . I have seen her for many years, just recently I have received her reflexology especially for menopause and I honestly can’t recommend this enough! It was absolutely amazing , my hot flushes reduced to virtually non existent and I feel refreshed and new.

When I first visited Julia I'd had five weeks off work because of extremely painful plantar fascitis and I was in a lot of pain when walking. I had foot reflexology with Julia and she gave me advice on exercises I could do at home. I've been back to work five months now with no intention of taking more time off. I now treat myself every month and have facial reflexology with Julia which is not only EXTREMELY relaxing but has also helped me a lot with my asthma and breathing issues.
Julia is very caring and knowledgeable about what she does and will go the extra mile by making suggestions and giving advice.
I thoroughly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

I’ve had the 90-minute reflexology treatment a couple of times now not only does Julia make you feel so welcome but also very relaxed before the treatment has even started . She is also very knowledgeable about the female body and delves deeper to make sure you get the best out of your treatment and how to improve your health outside of treatments . Would definitely recommend can’t wait for my next session.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. You'll only need to remove your shoes and socks. You'll remain fully clothed throughout your treatment, so I recommend wearing something comfortable that allows you to relax.
Yes. Over the last 15 years, I've supported many women through perimenopause and beyond using tailored reflexology treatments.
Every woman is different, but many of my clients tell me they sleep better, feel calmer, cope better with everyday life and notice improvements in symptoms such as anxiety, mood swings, hot flushes, night sweats, low energy and fatigue. Many also say they simply feel more like themselves again.
Reflexology doesn't treat menopause itself, but it can be a wonderful way to support your wellbeing during this stage of life.
Before your appointment, you'll complete a confidential consultation form online, giving me the opportunity to review your health history beforehand.
When you arrive, we'll spend around 10 minutes chatting about your health, lifestyle and what you'd like support with before your treatment begins. This consultation is completely free and is in addition to your treatment time, so you'll still receive your full appointment.
In many cases, yes.
Reflexology can often be adapted for a wide range of health conditions. However, there are some situations where treatment may need to be postponed or where I'll ask for approval from your GP or consultant before we begin.
If you're unsure whether reflexology is suitable for you, please get in touch before booking and I'll be happy to advise.
Yes. I'm a qualified Maternity Reflexologist and have completed specialist training to support women from conception, throughout pregnancy, during birth and into the postnatal period.
I have also trained in Baby Reflexology, allowing me to support little ones too.
It really depends on what you're hoping to achieve.
If you're simply looking for time to relax and unwind, many clients choose to come every four to six weeks.
If you're experiencing ongoing symptoms or would like support with hormonal changes, stress or a specific health concern, I often recommend a course of weekly treatments to begin with before moving on to maintenance appointments. We'll always discuss what's right for you.
Absolutely! I'm ticklish too, so I completely understand.
Reflexology uses slow, purposeful pressure rather than light touch, so it's very different from having your feet tickled. I always adjust the pressure to suit you, and every client who's ever told me they're ticklish has relaxed into the treatment and many now come back regularly.
Everybody responds to reflexology a little differently, and there's no right or wrong way to feel afterwards.
Many women leave feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, clearer-headed and with a real sense of calm. Others notice they have more energy, while many tell me they enjoy one of the best night's sleeps they've had in a long time.
Occasionally, you may feel sleepy, tired, a little achy or even slightly flu-like for a short while after your treatment. This is usually temporary and simply your body's way of responding to the treatment.
Some people may also experience a mild headache, particularly if they don't drink enough water afterwards. That's why I'll always encourage you to drink plenty of water and, if you can, take things a little easier for the rest of the day.
The most important thing is simply to listen to your body. Whether it's asking for an early night, a gentle walk, plenty of water or simply some quiet time, try to give it what it needs. Everybody responds differently, and your experience will be unique to you.
Most women simply leave feeling deeply relaxed and well rested, but whatever you experience, it's usually short-lived and settles quickly.
Yes, and many of my clients choose to do exactly that.
Foot Reflexology combines beautifully with Facial Reflexology, Holistic Facials, Facial Cupping, Indian Head Massage and my Face, Hand & Foot Reflexology treatment.
If you're not sure which combination would suit you best, I'm always happy to help you choose.
Yes. I have specialised reflexology protocols designed to support menstrual health and have worked with many women experiencing irregular cycles.
As you approach perimenopause, your hormones naturally begin to fluctuate, so the focus isn't always on creating a perfectly regular cycle. Instead, treatments are tailored to support your changing hormones, your overall wellbeing and any symptoms you're experiencing.
I've completed advanced training in Women's Health and Reproductive Reflexology and use specialist protocols to support a wide range of gynaecological and hormonal conditions.
These include conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), absent periods (amenorrhoea), heavy periods, painful periods and other menstrual or hormonal concerns.
Every treatment is tailored to your individual health history and needs.
That's completely normal.
Whether you're considering Foot Reflexology, Facial Reflexology or my Face, Hand & Foot Reflexology treatment, I'll happily help you decide which option is the best fit for you.
Simply get in touch before booking, tell me a little about what's been going on, and I'll point you in the right direction.
